The Legal Department

Functions:

  • Formulates plans and policies relative to the conduct of legal research, prosecution and litigation and settlement of cases.

  • Supervises for the Commission the development of technical and evidentiary materials and documents required for the prosecution and litigation of cases

  • Back staff for the Commission in the analysis of evidence and testimonies and the development of cases

  • Represents the Commission and acts in its behalf in all legal proceedings, including the prosecution and litigation of cases deliberations and meetings whenever needed

  • Executes for the Commission the decision and judgment of courts cases.

  • Provides legal advice and opinion on questions of law or any complex issues affecting the commission

  • Exercises top management supervision, coordination and monitoring of activities of the department

  • Performs other functions as may be assigned by the Chairman and / or the Commission.

 

 

 




 

Cases


     Pursuant to Executive Order Nos. 1, 2 and 14, the Presidential Commission on Good Government, with the assistance of the Office of the Solicitor General, started filing cases for recovery of ill-gotten wealth against the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos, his immediate family, relatives, cronies, subordinates and close associates on 29 December 1986. By reason thereof, numerous cases, whether incidental to, related with or otherwise connected with the said ill-gotten wealth cases, have been filed by and against the Commission over the years.
